晏阳初粉丝们说里根总统给晏阳初发了生日贺电，里根总统如何如何高度评价晏阳初。现在我开始考证这件事。
众所周知，美国每一位卸任总统都会有一个总统图书馆。这个总统图书馆收集了该总统任职期间几乎所有资料。里根总统的总统图书馆就在加州洛杉矶附近。欧也。
我首先询问如何获得总统写信祝贺生日（birthday greeting）？
我得到的回答： The vast majority of the birthday greetings that went out over President Reagan’s signature were not written by him personally. Rather, they were drafted by the White House Office of Correspondence, using standard “boilerplate” language, and signed with an autopen. This is hardly surprising given the number of important items that a President has to tend to every day. Recommendations for presidential birthday greetings came to the Correspondence Office from several sources, including members of Congress and other important leaders, members of the White House staff, and friends and acquaintances of the President.

The 1988 one was drafted by the Correspondence Office and mailed with an autopen Reagan signature, as I described previously. If other presidential birthday greetings were sent to Mr. Yen, we are unable to locate them here using our current finding aids.

回答说： We do not have a figure for how many presidential birthday greetings were sent during the Reagan Administration. I can tell you that the White House sent them on a continual basis throughout the Reagan presidency.

回答说： 相关资料还没有对公众开放。如果需要这些资料，可以按照程序提出申请，经批准后可以给你。
