　　此处短单词指单音节词如tall，和部分双音节词如ear？ly

　　语法解析

　　1. 一般在词尾加-er和-est。

　　如tall—taller-tallest？

　　2. 以字母e结尾的词，在词尾直接加-r和-st。

　　如nice—nicer-nicest ？

　　3. 元音+辅音结尾的词，且元音发短音时，双写尾字母，再加er和 -est。

　　如fat—fatter-fattestbig- bigger-biggest ？

　　4. 以“辅音字母+y“结尾的词，变”y“为”i“，再加-er。

　　语法解析

　　不定代词作主语，谓语动词用第三人称单数，所以，everybody作为不定代词，它的动词enter要使用enters 的形式。

　　同理：

　　Nobody wants to talk to him.

　　没有人想和他说话。

　　There is never anything worth watching on TV.

　　电视上没什么值得看的节目。

　　以下这些词都属于不定代词：

　　1)everyone，everybody， everyhing；

　　2)someone， somebody， something；

　　3)anyone， anybody， anything；

　　4)nobody， nothing， no one；

　　Bill Frith's garden is larger than Joe's.

　　比尔.弗里斯的花园比乔的花园大。

　　语法解析

　　此处一定要用Joe’s (garden) 而不能用Joe

　　因为：比较级和最高级一定都是在同类事物间作比较，花园和花园相比，人和人相比。文中是两个人的花园作比较，所以than后面应用所有格Joe's.

　　Bill works harder than Joe and grows moreflowers and vegetables， but Joe's garden is moreinteresting.

　　弗里斯的花园比乔的花园大，他比乔也更为勤奋，种植的花卉和蔬菜也更多，但乔的花园更富有情趣。

　　语法解析

　　1）此处为hard， 副词的比较级

　　2）grow 可作及物动词，当“种植”讲，或不及物动词，当“生长”讲。

　　对比：

　　grow flowers/vegetables/rice

　　种花/蔬菜/米

　　Tomatoes grow best in direct sunlight.

　　西红柿在阳光直射下长得最好。

　　He has made neat paths.

　　他修筑了一条条整洁的小路。

　　语法解析

　　1） paths， “小路”的复数形式表达了“一条条”的意思。

　　2）neat， 又整齐又干净的

　　整洁的课桌 a neat desk

　　工整的笔迹 neat handwriting
